Itinerary (weekly independent):

Day 1 Arrive St Petersburg. Transfer to accommodation for three nights. Choice of  homestay, hostel or budget hotel. Three hour walking tour.
Day 2 Day free for Other optional sightseeing
Day 3 Day free for sightseeing
Day 4 Depart St Petersburg (Leningradsky station) to Moscow on fast train - afternoon departure. Met and transferred to accommodation. Choice of homestay, hostel or budget hotel.
Day 5 Three hour introductory walking tour of central Moscow.
Day 6 Moscow Other optional sightseeing
Day 7 Moscow sightseeing
Day 8 Train Moscow to Irkutsk.
Day 9 On train. Bring out that large novel, or travel chess set!  Info about the Train
Day 10 On train.
Day 11 On train.
Day 12 Arrive Irkutsk and transfer to Lake Baikal for two nights accommodation in local village. Our costs are based on using our chalet/lodge accommodation. If you prefer a dedicated homestay please request - no change to cost. If our chalet was full you would be accommodated with a homestay.

Day 13 Lake Baikal village. Alternative packages to add if you want.
Day 14 Transfer back to Irkutsk for one night homestay.
Day 15 Transfer to rail station for evening departure of train to Irkutsk.. Four berth.
Train timetables between Irkutsk and Ulaan Baatar (both directions) have changed significantly from December 2017. There now no daily departures. From Irkutsk to Ulaan Baatar you now have;
#306 MON/WED/FRI  dep at 08:08 local time ( no 2 berth)
#Nr 6 SUN dep at 08:08 local time.
#Nr 4 SAT dep at 08:08 local time

Therefore, depending upon the start date (=day) of the complete programme we may need to adjust your stopover period for Irkutsk and Lake Baikal.
Day 16 Arrive Ulaan Baatar and transfer to homestay for one night. Free time to explore city. Alternative stopover options
Day 17 Transfer to ger camp for two nights - approx 70km out of Ulaan Baatar. Free time for 'Grassland Pursuits'.
Day 18 Grassland pursuits. Option activities such as horse or camel riding, archery and hiking etc
Day 19 Transfer back to homestay for one night. Balance of day to explore more of Ulaan Baatar.
Day 20 Transfer to station for train to Beijing.
Day 21 Arrive Beijing End of arrangements. Beijing Options


NOTES: There may be some variation due to train arrival or departure times. The content remains the same, but the order in which services are provided may vary.
Additional, or less nights may be required to meet changed train schedules.
Free allowance for rail baggage is 35kg per person. For the over-weight baggage you need to check them at the Luggage Checkin Center of Beijing Railway
Station on the morning of the day prior to departure date.
