Tashkent

Tourism information and more.

Tashkent is Uzbekistan’s capital. The city shows its shimmering roots as a Silk Road city even today. The 2,000 year-old-city is a major exporter to Eastern Europe of silk, textiles and cotton, as well as oil, coal, copper etc.

Tashkent is a very Soviet city that has little remaining from its ancient Central Asian past. The city has a mixture of modern new office buildings, hotels, parks and crumbling Soviet style apartment blocks.
